Training Program Title:
GAS TURBINE OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE.
Program Type:
TECHNICAL COURSE
Course Objective:
At the end of the programme, participants will be able to: 1) Define finite and infinite Bus. 2) Describe the function of a Turbine-generator 3) Describe how generator parameters are affected by changes in either turbine shaft power or excitation current. 4) Demonstrate understanding of Speed and voltage control system response during a load rejection from full power. 5) Explain why some parameters limits are placed on generators. 6) Interpret temperature and Speed measurement Sensors reading devices. 7) Effectively carry out reading on governor control devices. 8) Carry out operations on governor and AVR system controls. 9) Describe basic operational components of turbine Governor System. 10) Explain the basic components of a Generator control system 11) Interpret basic turbine- Generator control diagrams and symbols
Course Scope:
1) ELECTRICAL CONTROL ON GENERATOR 2) TURBINE INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL 3) CONTROL SYSTEMS 4) PROTECTIVE SYSTEMS 5) PERMISSIVES (INTERLOCKS) 6) BASIC DESCRIPTION OF GENERATOR PARTS AND FUNCTIONS 7) POWER STATION EFFICIENCY AND COST CONTROL
Course Description:
Generator can truly be described as the reason for building a power station or Plant. The operation, control and protection of turbine generator system is highly criticality to the operation of thermal/gas/steam power plant and its associated auxiliaries. Therefore, an effective and thorough understanding of both mechanical and electrical control is of paramount importance to the operators of such a system. This course is designed to introduce the participants to the basic mechanical and electrical controls system of a turbine generator and the interrelation of the various components through the classroom theory and practical demonstration.
